Sienna Ridge Wine Tasting Room History

Tasting Room John LongThe Sienna Ridge Estate tasting room is located on John Long Road, near the town of Yoncalla, in Pleasant Valley. In 1846 John Long and his wife Minerva left Missouri and traveled the overland route to Oregon, and experienced many hardships. They took the new southern route known as the Applegate Cutoff and were the first emigrants to travel it with wagons.

By 1849 they had settled on donation land claim #46, consisting of 640 acres. They resided on their farm for many years and then their youngest son, Robert, purchased the property and built his family home. It remained in the family until 2002 when Wayne Hitchings purchased 87 acres of the original parcel and started the three year restoration.

We sincerely thank the Long family for their trust in our promise to preserve this beautiful piece of Oregon history, and their loan of family portraits that hang in the parlor. Dedicated to: John Long, 1810-1890 Robert Wesley Long, 1862-1924 Cody Long, 1886-1965 Robert Long, 1920-2001
